Imaginative, Inclusive and Inspiring – Your 2020 Survey Results

Note: You can still complete the survey here if you would like to.

At the end of 2020, we asked our mailing list 3 simple questions to help guide Transition Southampton’s focus and planning in the year ahead:

  1. What 3 words would you use to describe your ideal Transition Southampton?
  2. What are your 3 favourite Transition Southampton projects?
  3. What do you think is the biggest challenge facing Southampton in the next couple of years?

We received a varying number of response to each question (from 17 to 26). Thank you everyone who answered! Here are the results

Question 1: What 3 words would you use to describe your ideal Transition Southampton?

The higher the number of submissions for a certain word, the larger the text:

Some fantastic words jump out: Inclusive, inspiring, sustainable, imaginative, inspirational, and green! These words will be at the forefront of our minds and guide us as we plan what we do. If you want to get involved or have further ideas please get in touch here.

Question 2: What are your 3 favourite Transition Southampton projects?

Respondents were asked to choose their 3 favourite projects from a big list of Transition Southampton projects.

As you can see, the Repair Cafe came out on top with Clean Air Southampton, Transition Talks, Green Gardening Consultations, TREEmendous, Station Walks Book and the Sustainable Living Guide in the chasing pack! We’ll bear these responses in mind when we consider where to invest our time and funds. Meanwhile, if you’d like to get involved in any of our projects once they become able to restart do please contact us at chair[at]transitionsouthampton[dot]org. We are always looking for more volunteers to help us do more.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing Southampton in the next couple of years?

Some varied and thoughtful responses. We looked at the themes of the responses to see what topics/concerns were common in the comments:

As you can see, concerns around transport, air quality, well being, COVID-19 fallout, house building, sustainable economic development and cruise ships all got more than one mention.

Thank you again to everyone who took a few minutes to participate and provide your input, your voice and input is invaluable to us.
